Setup #2 – Equalizer Suction Line

There are other times when the front port of the skimmer is simply plumbed out through the pool wall in front of the skimmer. This is done to provide some protection if the water level in the pool drops too low.

NOTE: This can also create an entrapment hazard so it is important to have some sort of grate on the front of this port to keep people from being sucked up against it. On commercial pools, this port should be plugged.
