Zinc Anodes are often called sacrificial anodes and are used to protect metal equipment and parts in the pool or spa from electrolysis damage. Electrolysis, caused by the presence of salt or other chemicals in the water, can quickly damage metal components such as Chrome or Stainless Steel ladders, heaters, metal pump and metal parts or filters and lights. Electrolysis can also cause staining of the plaster in a pool or spa with dissolved metals such as copper and iron or steel.

There are several ways to install a zinc anode in your pool to prevent damage. Installation methods range from putting an anode in the skimmer basket to attaching it to the ladder rail to installing it on the pipe in the pool system. Using a zinc anode will extend the life of all metal parts in the pool system and prevent plaster staining.
